Functieomschrijving

For an international organization within the premium menswear industry, we are looking for a Buyer to join the Buying team in the Amsterdam region. This is not a role where you spend your days endlessly updating spreadsheets while pretending a fabric swatch excites you. You’ll have direct influence on collections, supplier relationships, product quality, and the fabrics that eventually end up in high-end menswear collections across international markets.

What you’ll actually be doing

As Buyer, you’ll work closely with suppliers, ateliers, and internal teams to shape seasonal collections from the ground up. You’ll be involved in selecting fabrics, managing supplier relationships, evaluating garment samples, and making sure collections meet both quality standards and commercial expectations.

You won’t be managing “processes” from a distance. You’ll be hands-on in the details, from fabrics and fits to supplier communication and collection coordination.

What you’ll own

Fabric & Collection Management

  • Source and select fabrics through supplier meetings and international trade fairs

  • Help shape seasonal collections together with internal creative and product teams

  • Coordinate pricing requests, orders, and supplier communication

  • Manage seasonal collection budgets and timelines

Product Quality & Development

  • Review garment samples with a strong eye for quality, fit, durability, washing, and shrinkage

  • Work directly with suppliers and ateliers to solve quality issues and improve products

  • Analyse customer feedback and translate this into collection improvements

  • Support internal teams with fabric knowledge and collection insights

Operational Coordination

  • Ensure fabric administration, pricing, and systems stay accurate and up to date

  • Coordinate fabric samples for internal teams, stores, and marketing purposes

  • Contribute to internal projects focused on improving workflows and processes

What makes this role interesting?

You’ll join a company where product quality and craftsmanship still genuinely matter. The collections are built in collaboration with international suppliers and ateliers, and the role gives you direct influence on the final product, not just the administration around it.

This is the type of environment where textile knowledge is valued, opinions matter, and attention to detail actually makes a difference.

Vereisten

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Textile, or a related field

  • Around 3–5 years of experience in buying, sourcing, or textile-related roles

  • Strong textile and fabric knowledge is essential

  • Experience within menswear or formalwear is a plus

  • Structured and organised, without becoming overly corporate

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong communication skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

What you’ll get

  • A role with direct influence on collections and product quality

  • International exposure through suppliers, ateliers, and trade fairs

  • A collaborative and energetic team environment

  • Room for ownership, ideas, and professional growth

  • Learning and development opportunities

  • Attractive secondary benefits and employee perks

If you’re someone who can recognise quality fabrics by touch, enjoys balancing creativity with structure, and likes being closely involved in the product itself, we’d like to hear from you!
